
Several researchers from the Centre for Forestry Studies (CEF) attended the first ERC-Portugal event.
On December 2, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) organised the first event dedicated to the ERC-Portugal Programme at the Rectory of the University of Lisbon (Ulisboa).
The opening session was attended by the Rector of ULisboa, Professor Luís Ferreira, the President of the FCT, Madalena Alves, and the Secretary of State for Science, Ana Paiva. This was followed by a keynote lecture by Maria Leptin, President of the ERC (European Research Council).
The programme also included the round table “Linking Science and Policy for a Carbon Neutral and Digital Europe”, aiming to a more digital and environmentally sustainable Europe, and the presentation of the ERC-Portugal Programme, as an instrument to support the scientific community in the various cycles of national participation in ERC competitions.
To close the event, FCT Vice-President Francisco Santos presented the ERC-Portugal Programme, as an instrument to support the scientific community in the several cycles of national participation in ERC tenders.
The CEF was present at this event, recognising the ERC (European Research Council) as one of the main research funding institutions in the European Union, with a crucial role in fostering and supporting excellent research projects in various scientific areas.
