The MSc degree in Forest Engineering and Natural Resources offers 30 annual vacancies for students with training based on the areas of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Management, Statistics and Informatics or Environmental Sciences. Applicants must be:

  • graduates, or legal equivalent, obtained at School of Agriculture (ISA) or other higher education institutions, in the base training areas;
  • holders of an academic degree conferred by a foreign higher education institution, following a 1st cycle of studies, in the base training areas, organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process;
  • holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as satisfying the objectives of the degree of licensee by the ISA's Scientific Board;
  • holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting to the ability to carry out the cycle of studies by the ISA's Scientific Board.

SCHOLARSHIPS from public-private partnerships with Companies

In order to stimulate the interest of potential students in the Forestry area, an area of growing strategic importance for Portugal, and to meet the growing demand for specialists, were created public-private partnerships with Altri Group, Corticeira Amorim, Sonae Arauco and The Navigator Company to fund a total of 22 scholarships.

These will cover 100% of the tuition fees in courses related to forest engineering and will be distributed between the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro University (UTAD), University of Porto University (UP), School Of Agriculture (ISA) and the Coimbra Agriculture School (ESAC). Annually, ISA awards 4 master’s degree scholarships to the best students.

Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS total);
  • have basic training in one of the following areas
    • Life Sciences
    • Physical Sciences
    • Mathematics
    • Management
    • Statistics
    • Informatics
    • Environmental Sciences;
  • priority for candidates with professional experience;
  • does not require previous training in Forest Engineering, however it is recommended...
