Tema: Advances in phylogenetic ecology for studying biodiversity under global change scenario
Orador: Écio Souza Diniz (Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Brasil)
Resumo: This seminar aims to address a review of the main recent advances in methods and tools (eg R packages) in ecological phylogeny that allow to gain insight on biodiversity patterns, especially of plants, and their relationship with species adaptations across different environmental settings. In addition, we will discuss some of the most promising applications of the phylogenetic approach to predict changes in biodiversity and urgent ecological issues.
Nota biográfica: Biologist, Master in Forest Engineering and Ph.D in Botany. Currently is a Postdoc in the Laboratory of Geoprocessing and Remote Sensing of the Department of Forest Engineering of the Federal University of Viçosa (Brazil) and director of the Beta Analítica, an enterprise devoted to online courses and consulting in data analysis and statistics. His main research focus are: plant ecology, phylogenetic and functional ecology, forest dynamics and statistical modeling.
