The Flemish government recently launched a new scholarship programme for excellent students and students can apply for a Master Mind Scholarship.

Master Mind Scholarships

In 2015 the Government of Flanders launched a new scholarship programme. For the academic year 2016-2017 up to 45 “Master Mind Scholarships” will be awarded to outstanding Master students from around the world to take up a one or two year Master degree programme in Flanders.

Students can not apply directly. The KU Leuven will nominate eligible candidates and initiate the scholarship application.

Modalities

• Start of mobility: September 2016
• Duration: minimum 1 academic year, maximum the full duration of the Master programme (less than 45 ECTS obtained in the first year, no scholarship during second year)
• Scholarship of maximum 7500 Euro per academic year
• Tuition fee of maximum 105 Euro per year

Eligibility requirements - KU Leuven

• You are registered as a full-time student at a higher education institution (hereafter ‘home institution’) outside Flanders, at the moment of the application.
• You completed your application for a Master Degree Programme at the KU Leuven.
• You have a high standard of academic performance, outstanding study results.
• KU Leuven and the home institution have signed a cooperation agreement
• You are officially accepted by the KU Leuven Master Programme prior to 25 March 2016
• Students from all countries can apply.
• All study areas are eligible.

Procedure and timing - KU Leuven

• Faculties and Master Programmes of the KU Leuven are invited to indicate eligible students.
• Students who submitted a complete application file for a Master Programme at the KU Leuven and who consider themselves to be eligible for a Master Mind scholarship, can register till 1 March 2016
• No later than 25 March 2016 KU Leuven will invite eligible students to complete the online Master Mind Application.
• Final selection will be made by the Selection Commission of the Flemish Government.
• Selection results will be announced in May 2016.
