How to Apply

The Instituto Superior de Agronomia is delighted to welcome exchange students from around the world and aim to make their time in Portugal as enjoyable and rewarding as possible. The School staff is available to provide help and assistance from the day students express interest in studying at our University until the day they depart. This includes the application process. There are a number of steps that should be followed by exchange students when planning to apply to the Instituto Superior de Agronomia.

All Erasmus students must be nominated by their home university to ISA in the first instance. Students on the Erasmus Program should choose approximately five subjects per semester (approximately 10 subjects per academic year) so they are able to fulfill the requirements of 30 ECTS credits per semester (60 ECTS credits per academic year).

Portuguese is the official teaching language. The subjects from the 1st Cycle are lectured in Portuguese. The subjects from the 2nd Cycle are lectured in Portuguese - some subjects may eventually be lectured in English (exceptional cases), the students should consult the syllabus of each subject and the responsible Professors as well for more information.

You will obtain academic credits from the 'European Credit Transfer System' (ECTS), which you can use for recognition at your home university. These schemes promote the mobility of students between institutions and countries and, thus, allow students to transfer their credits home.

You should follow the application procedure as detailed below:

  • Print and complete the Application Form;
  • Attach a transcript of records which details all your University results prior to applying for study abroad. Your application will not be considered without this transcript;
  • Print and complete the Learning Agreement based on subjects chosen from the course information pack, available here and here and get it signed by a representative from your University.

Send all documents to the International Relations Office, by email, fax or regular post (just choose one of the options):
