Our researcher Leónia Nunes and the Coordinator of the CEABN InBIO, Francisco Castro Rego, were present in the general assembly of the DIABOLO project (Distributed, integrated and harmonised forest information for bioeconomy) that took place in the Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA) in Madrid, Spain, from May 28 to 29, 2018.
The main objectives of this annual meeting were focused on the discussion of the project development until now and the results achieved, so far, based in the information provided by the members of the Forest National Inventories, with the harmonization of the analysis of methods, in particular when referencing estimation of tree volume, forest biodiversity indicators, estimation of non-wood forest products productivity (e.g. resin and pine cones) and assessment of the crown fire hazard trough the characterization of fuel characteristics.
The main findings of the project were presented and it was also discussed the best ways to spread and publish the project outcomes. At the same time it was organized a meeting of the European National Forest Inventory Network (ENFIN) to discuss future ways of collaboration between their members and the new JRC framework contract.
