Our researcher Sónia Talhé Azambuja will teach this course whose purpose is to interpret the meaning of flora, fauna and landscapes represented in a set of works of illuminations and paintings of the XV-XVII centuries that are on display at the National Museum of Ancient Art.
The landscape paintings will be presented in accordance with the following types: landscape symbols, fantastic scenery, great landscape, landscape of facts and real landscape and it allow a new perspective on the role of the landscape from the Renaissance. Pictorial details of plants and animals will be interpreted based on its symbolic meaning.
The first session will take place on September 17 from 14h30 to 17h30, with the title "The landscape in the Portuguese painting of the National Museum of Ancient Art (XV-XVI centuries) and the second session will take place on October 8 at same time and with the title "The Plants and Animals in the Portuguese Painting National Museum of Ancient Art (XV-XVII centuries).
