Our researcher Conceição Colaço will present the theme "The territories of the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon: peri-urban areas" in the "IX Portuguese Congress of Sociology" which will be held from July 6 to 8, at the University of Algarve, in Faro.

The communication will present the results of the project "PERIURBAN - Peri-urban areas facing sustainability challenges: scenario development in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon (AML)" which objective is to demonstrate the diversity of territories in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon using the description of 5 different typologies found in the peri-urban areas.

The work will also focus in the social and economic fields discussing the indicators that are used in the construction of these different typologies, such as the characteristics of families and their homes, territorial composition, inequality in space, structure and economic specialization.
