CEABN seeks volunteers to collaborate on a research project that studies the ecology and post-fire management of cork oak (Quercus suber, national tree), and how different factors, including forest pests and post-fire management, affect tree mortality, their recovery and cork production.

Preference is given to motivated persons, who already have some knowledge in forestry and/or entomology/mycology, and who wish to improve it, namely by taking advantage of the collaborative work to conclude a PhD or Master's degree. In case of collaboration in the field work, in principle at least the accommodation and travel costs will be ensured. Depending on the type of collaboration, other type of support may be available.

This project is being developed in collaboration with the Coruche Municipality (CMC), Observatory of Cork Oak and Cork (OSC), Coruche Forest Producers Association (APFC), Forest Research Centre (CEF-ISA) and National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research (INIAV).

Candidates should send an email with CV and indicating the time period available to collaborate, to: Dr. Filipe Xavier Catry (fcatry@isa.ulisboa.pt) or Prof. Francisco Castro Rego (ceabn@isa.ulisboa.pt).
