On October 13th, the same day that is celebrated the "International Day of Natural Disaster Reduction", our colleague Maria da Conceição Colaço presented "The importance of multi-sectoral partnerships to increase resilience to natural disasters (ENHANCE project): The Portuguese case study on forest fires" in the " X Conference - International Day of Natural Disaster Reduction" that was held in Recreios da Amadora, Lisbon, Portugal.

The presentations made were focused, in particular, on the "Role of the private sector in reducing the risk of disaster" theme that was launched by the ONU "International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, which this year highlights the different levels of knowledge of society in reducing the risk of disaster.

In this conference it was presented the importance of good practices implemented by the private sector in terms of risks, some concrete examples of real cases were made and it was stressed the importance of prevention, rescue, awareness, safety and cohesion between public and private agents, in order, to improve the resilience of society to the impact of natural disasters.
