CoLABs
The main objective of CoLABs is to create, directly and indirectly, qualified employment and scientific employment in Portugal through the implementation of research and innovation agendas aimed at creating economic and social value.
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) is responsible for the recognition process and the attribution of the title "Collaborative Laboratory". Collaborative Laboratories must be established as private non-profit associations or companies.
ISA recognizes the importance of CoLABs as a privileged means of strengthening research and development partnerships with other entities in the scientific system and with the business community, which is why it currently participates in 3 CoLABs: Colab4Food, Colab VINES&WINES and ForestWISE.
Colab4Food
The collaborative laboratory Colab4Food promotes research and development (R&D) activities in the food sector with the aim of increasing its competitiveness through a collaborative strategy between the academic and business sectors.
With a vision focused on consumer benefits, Colab4Food intends to contribute to the development of more sustainable food processes, new ingredients and formulations, services and R&D consultancy, as well as to act in attracting financing.

CoLAB VINES&WINES
CoLAB VINES&WINES, an initiative led by ADVID – the Association for the Development of Viticulture in the Douro Region which is the national Vine and Wine Cluster, together with the portuguese viticulture ecosystem, aims to be the ideal partner in the innovation of products, processes and services of companies in the Portuguese wine sector.
The mission of this CoLAB is: to generate and communicate knowledge and technology that supports the ambition expressed by the sector to increase the export value of Portuguese wines; to ensure that the Portuguese wine system becomes more efficient, resilient and flexible in order to respond to climate, demographic and economic challenges; to promote the competitiveness and sustainability of the Portuguese wine ecosystem..

ForestWISE
ForestWISE - Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest and Fire Management is a private, non-profit association which aims to develop research, innovation and transfer of knowledge and technology with a view to increasing sustainable forest management in Portugal, the competitiveness of the Portuguese forest sector and reducing the negative consequences of rural fires.
The CoLAB therefore responds to the intentions of the Resolutions of the Ministers Council 159/2017 and 157-A/2017, through the combined efforts of universities, the public sector, the private sector and industry in a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to the issues of fire, the enhancement of the forest and the sustainable development of forest-based activities.
