In this study the authors used Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) as a surrogate of habitat quality and prey availability to investigate the impacts of forecasted climate change and extreme climatic events on lesser kestrel (Falco naumanni) breeding performance.

The authors report a 12% decrease in offspring survival associated with drought events. Extreme events, rather than gradual climate changes, will have a significant impact on the species.

This is the first article of Joana Marcelino's PhD project. Joana and the co-authors are to be congratulated for this fantastic work!
