During November and December the NitroPortugal project presented its results: The Ammonia Code, Press release,Workshop, Art Exhibition, Sculpture, Radio Interview, virtual reality, a national news, smartphone game, video and stamps.
  Children book on Nitrogen
Within NitroPortugal the English and Portugueseversion of the children book “Nitrogen, a goody or a baddy?” by Vanda Brotas and illustrations by Rui Sousa are now available to download.

Guia de Boas Práticas Agrícolas para a Redução das Emissões de Amoníaco
The portuguese version of a "Guide to Good Agricultural Practices for the Reduction of Ammonia Emissions" was lauched at GPP on February 21st.


Nitrogen-inspired Virtual Reality
Within ArtFest, a VR device was used to create an immersive atmosphere to understand the implications of nitrogen in the environment. Check the video here.

a game for smartphone with the goal to help remove nitrogen from the environment, hitting the incoming ammonia and nitrogen oxides

Disseminating Nitrogen issues to children
A children book “Azoto – bom em pequenino e mau em grande” written by Vanda Brotas Gonçalves e illustrated by Rui Sousa” will be launched in Pavilhão do Conhecimento December 5, 18:00. Everyone’s is invited.

An animation was produced within NitoPortugal, to raise awareness on the nitrogen problem and propose solutions for a sustainable environment.

Dissemination tool
To assess the awareness of environmental nitrogen losses from the respective countries of each staff partners (UK, Denmark, Portugal) and for each WAGES topic, a powerful dissemination tool, Mentimeter, was created and tested, providing online surveys and immediate reporting from the participants. Our Nitrogen champion was Mark Sutton.

Art & Environment
Exhibition inspired by NitroPortugal, to increase the awareness on Nitrogen issue using Art. During the event multiple pieces of art were produced and sold. The money was given to ReFood, an association that redistribute excessive food, contributing to reduce our society nitrogen footprint.

The NecoSchool, on the topic the Global and Long-term Effects of Nitrogen on Ecosystems was held from 15 to 16 May 2017.

We joined 17 sutudents from from 7 countries (Portugal, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Sweden, China and Luxembourg) during a 9 days course with teachers from 7 countries. During the course we had lectures, field and lab work and Group work, visited two LTER stations, Companhia das Lezírias and Herdade da Coitadinha.

Beatriz Silva and Guilherme Gonçalves visiting CEH
They are currently on statistical analysis training, to analyse and compare the water quality data in Portugal and Denmark. A river basin SWAT analysis will be followed by modelling scenarios. The data on water quality monitoring will be integrated with soil topic.

  Online training session
By Aarhus University, about FarmAC model,from the AnimalChange project. It simulates the flows of carbon and nitrogen on arable and livestock farms, quantifying greenhouse gas emissions, soil C sequestration and N losses to the environment. It also simulates crop and livestock production. Nine members of the team will attend. On the 2nd June, 9h00 at ISA.

He is currently working on the project "Increasing the resolution of N emissions, atmospheric concentrations and deposition models in Portugal". 12-May to 12-August-2016.

She is currently working on the project "Cross climate comparison of lichens responses to spatial and temporal variations of different N treatments". 28-April to 28-July 2016.

  LuWQ2017 conference
This is an international and interdisciplinary conference on management and policy to minimise effects of agriculture and land use changes on the quality of groundwater and surface waters.
