I am a community ecologist and evolutionary biologist with experience in a wide range of topics, but focusing primarily on the patterns, mechanisms, and consequences of plant-animal interactions in humanized landscapes.
I have accomplished my investigations on plant-animal interactions within ecological, microevolutionary, and applied frameworks. Animal-plant interactions lead to critical ecological services such as seed dispersal and pollination that are treated by the current scenario of global change; hence,
I am also committed to conservation endeavors. Over the last fifteen years, I have been funded by a number of scientific projects and international agencies including highly competitive 5-years ‘Ramón y Cajal’ fellowship in the Doñana Biological Station (Spain), the Marie Curie fellowship at the Dept. of Ecological Modeling (Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research GmbH - UFZ, Germany), and currently by the Portuguese Science and Technology Fundation (FCT).
