'The researchers Ana Paula Pereira and Andreia Sofia Loureiro from CIFC visited the Dehong Tropical Agriculture Research Institute of Yunnan – DTARI, China, during 13-30 November 2015, under the scope of the co-operative project "Pathogenic, cytological and epidemiological studies to achieve coffee varieties with durable resistance to leaf rust at Yunnan Province (Proc.º 441.00 China) (2014-2017)”.

The main objectives of this visit were: a) to acquaint with various aspects of coffee production at Yunnan Province, especially about the control of coffee leaf rust  by resistant varieties; b) to visit different coffee growing regions and to evaluate the behavior  of different coffee germplasm to rust resistance; c) to collect some rust samples to be characterized at CIFC; d) to train researchers in the identification and characterization of coffee leaf rust races.

During this mission presentations at DTARI were made on “Citological characterization of coffee resistance to biotrophic fungi Hemileia vastatrix” by Andreia Loureiro and on “Coffee leaf rust: Race characterization” by Ana Paula Pereira.'
