Prof. Margarida Tomé honored with international award for scientific recognition
It was during the last edition of the international congress IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations), held in Curitiba, Brazil, during the days 29/09 and 5/10 that the international prize ceremony took place.
The Professor and former coordinator of CEF was distinguished for the innovative research work carried out over the last 3 decades. The organization highlighted its theoretical and practical approaches as important inspirational sources for research groups in Portugal and Spain, while noting that the results of her scientific investigation have been used by researchers from around the world.
IUFRO is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 1892. It acts as a global forest science cooperation network that voluntarily brings together more than 15,000 scientists in nearly 700 member organizations in 126 countries. The world congress is its main event that runs every 5 years. The last edition took place for the first time in Latin America and was organized and coordinated by the Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) and Embrapa. It was attended by about 3000 people including scientists, researchers, teachers, students and forestry professionals from all over the world.
