The Project RIVEAL is research and technological development (SR&TD) project (1 December 2018 – 30 November 2021) approved in the context of the national support system for research and technologic development (SAICT 2017). The School of Agriculture/Forest Research Centre is the Principal institutions, and the partner institutions are the Social Sciences Institute, the University of Coimbra and the University of Aveiro.

RIVEAL aims to quantify key-Ecosystem Services (ES) of riparian forests and predict the gains/losses of ES under diverse climatic, land use and water management scenarios in the Portuguese fluvial landscapes. We focused in three ES: Fluvial Ecological Integrity (Provisioning ES), Carbon Sequestration (Regulating & Maintenance ES), and Socio-cultural values (Cultural ES).
