Launch of project LIFE FLUVIAL in Portugal
The launch of LIFE FLUVIAL (LIFE16 NAT/ES/000771) Project in Portugal is scheduled for the 2nd February 2018 at 10:00h. Is going to be held in the Environmental Interpretation Centre located in the Protected Area of Lagoas de Bertiandos e S. Pedro de Arcos (Ponte de Lima, Portugal). The program includes oral presentations performed by INDUROT (University of Oviedo, Spain), CEF and LEAF (two research units of the School of Agriculture / University of Lisbon, Portugal). The event will be integrated in the celebration of the World Wetlands Day, planned by the Municipality of Ponte de Lima (Portugal) in this Ramsar Site.
The partnership of project LIFE FLUVIAL includes 8 entities including universities, public administration and companies and NGOs from Spain and Portugal. The partnership is leaded by University of Oviedo and coordinated in Portugal by the School of Agriculture. The main project goals are halting degradation to improve the conservation status and to develop sustainable management measures of fluvial corridors and forests with presence of Alnus glutinosa (European priority habitat 91E0*), in Natura 2000 sites in Spain and Portugal.
This project actions will be carried out in the Atlantic Region of the Northwest Iberian Peninsula, in particular, the Sites of Community Importance of Encoro de Abegondo-Cecebre, Betanzos-Mandeo, Río Eo, Parga-Ladra-Támoga and Ribadeo, in Spain, and in the Site of Community Importance of Rio Lima, in Portugal.
