Brazilian System Fire-Land-Atmosphere (BrFLAS)
The CEF researchers Duarte Oom and João Neves Silva were in Brazil (June, 23 to July, 8 ) to participate in two fieldwork campaigns in order to assess fire behaviour and effects in the Cerrado biome with prescribed fires. These campaigns were performed in the framework of the joint Portuguese-Brazilian project BrFlas: Brazilian Fire-Land-Atmosphere System and were located at the Reserva da Serra do Tombador (Goiás state) and in the indigenous land of Kadiwéu (Mato Grosso do Sul state).
The prescribed fires were set by the federal Brazilian programme PrevFogo team.
Researchers from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and from the Fundação Grupo Boticário de Protecção à Natureza also participated in the campaigns.
