Agroforestry systems and innovation: What’s going on in Europe?
The 3rd Portuguese RAIN meeting took place in EDIA (Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infra-estruturas do Alqueva S A), in Beja, on the 12th of September.
On the12th of September the AFINET project (agroforestry innovation networks) and EDIA welcomed the 3rd Portuguese RAIN (Regional Agroforestry Innovation Networks) meeting at EDIA’s headquarters, in Beja.
Around thirty people attended the meeting, including farmers, multipliers, researchers and administration.
The main goals of the meeting were: to present the project’s final list of innovations and the differences and similarities among the agroforestry sectors of the 9 European regions of the AFINET project; to present the project’s information material prototypes and to transfer knowledge about carob’s production and potentiality.
On the afternoon, there was a field trip to the organic farm Herdade dos Lagos, in Mértola. The attendees visited the silvopastural carob orchard and some other farm features.
