I have a degree in Biology, a Master’s in Ecology and worked on several national and LIFE projects in the S. Miguel Island. Currently, I am pursuing Ph.D. studies in the Doctoral Program in Sustainable Land Use – Forest and Natural Resources. My research focuses on riparian forests as providers of ecosystem services in the context of global change. The project addresses regulatory ecosystem services (such as carbon storage capacity) and cultural ecosystem services (such as aesthetic value) provided by Mediterranean riparian forests located in highly altered human landscapes. Riparian systems characterized by distinct socio-ecological and climatic contexts are used as case studies, and various methodologiesâfieldwork, remote sensing, modeling techniques, and stakeholder questionnairesâwill be combined to offer insights for an integrated approach to riparian management.
