Ing. Angeliki Peponi, Ph.D. is a geographer holding a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering (2016) from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS) and a doctorate in Geography with a specialty in Regional and Urban Planning from the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (IGOT), University of Lisbon (UL), and in Applied Landscape Ecology from (CULS) under cotutelle agreement. Angeliki has adopted an integrated research approach coupling urban smartization and urban ecology under the urban metabolism concept, aiming to achieve urban environmental sustainability by developing resilient, inclusive, and healthier urban futures. Her expertise relies on coupling geocomputation and deep learning techniques to perform sensitivity analysis and predictive modelling, assessing, and predicting the complexity of the interdependencies among the ongoing socio-eco-evolutionary complex system dynamics, aiming to minimize the impacts of Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) changes on the ecosystems’ quality in space and time. Currently, she is a researcher at the Forest Research Center (CEF), School of Agriculture (ISA), University of Lisbon, and a collaborator researcher at the Centre of Geographical Studies of University of Lisbon. Her research interests rely on the complexity of urban-ecological dynamics, sustainable energy transitions, fostering socioecological transformative changes and biodiversity conservation, and public health research.
