Alice Ferreira is currently working on her PhD dissertation in Environmental Engineering at the ISA, under the supervision of Professor Cláudia Marques-dos-Santos from the ISA’s Center for Forestry Studies (CEF). Her dissertation, entitled “Development of agricultural products with microalgae biomass grown in pig farm effluent”, aims to contribute to the promotion of sustainability in the agricultural sector. During her PhD, she has focused on the cultivation of microalgae for the treatment of effluents from the livestock industry, namely pig farming, and on the valorization of the biomass produced as a biofertilizer, biostimulant and biopesticide. His work reflects a commitment to innovation in the use of renewable resources for sustainable agriculture.
