I have a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biology of Terrestrial Animal Resources from FCUL - School of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and I have attended some classes of the Master Course of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology by ICBAS - “Abel Salazar” Biomedical Sciences Institute of the University of Oporto.

With additional training in Environmental Education by ASPEA - Portuguese Association of Environmental Education, I have been delivering eco-awareness programs to children about water, vegetable gardens, cereal crops, steppe birds and waste recycle. I have over 10 years of teaching experience as a private tutor of secondary school students in Natural Sciences, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Portuguese and English.

I possess expertise as an administrative assistant, which started in 2001 at SPEA – Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds, delivering core office services, assisting with the planning of ornithology events (including the production of leaflets about them), and managing the membership database and SPEA’s shop. For the same reason and with a similar role, I returned to SPEA in 2003. In 2015, at CEAVG - Vale Gonçalinho’s Environmental Education Centre, in Castro Verde (run by LPN – League for the Protection of Nature), I was assigned to the mentioned above duties in addition to managing the Centre’s petty cash fund, producing monthly financial reports, assisting the Centre’s team with its on-going projects and with keeping the Human Resources records up to date, managing photography hide rentals and bird watching guided tour reservations, and monitoring the Centre’s public areas. As a receptionist there, I also interacted with the general public, particularly by welcoming hundreds of visitors from around the world, providing them information about bird watching in the Special Protected Area of Castro Verde. Back in 2010, I had already assisted the Secretariat for the Organizing Committee of the 28th International Horticultural Congress, by providing written information to foreign participants about the public presentation guidelines for the submitted scientific papers and, when necessary, by printing their posters in Portugal.

Previously, my literary interest had led me to an 8-year career in the book retail sector, where I started as cashier and evolved to a district shops coordinator. My primary responsibilities involved being face-to-face with customers, assisting them with book selection and handling financial transactions. However, I also did a fair amount of order processing, stock management, window/in-shop displaying and staff coordination in the back.

At the moment, I deliver core office services at CEABN, support the administrative and financial management of on-going research projects, manage the library database, assist with the planning and running of events, and keep up-to-date/promote CEABN’s team scientific performance indicators.
